Both Tim Allen and Tom Hanks have been approached by Disney to reprise their roles as Buzz and Woody.

Appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show,” Tim Allen confirmed that work is underway for the fifth installment of the animated megahit “Toy Story.” The actor will once again lend his voice to Buzz Lightyear.

Bob Iger, Disney’s head, revealed that the decision has been made. Allen admitted, “The film is happening.” Representatives from the studio reached out to Tom (Hanks) and me to reprise our roles. However, they’re not willing to disclose any details yet.

“Toy Story” tells the story of toys in Andy’s room, led by cowboy Woody (Hanks) and space ranger Buzz Lightyear (Allen). The first installment marked Pixar’s first feature-length film and the first computer-animated feature in cinema history. It hit theaters on November 22, 1995, grossing $373 million worldwide. Subsequent films chronicling Woody and Buzz’s adventures premiered in 1999, 2010, and 2019. The four installments collectively earned over $3 billion in revenue.
