It turns out that Top Gun: Maverick wasn’t Tom Cruise’s last flight. The actor hasn’t said his final word yet, as the official production of the third installment is underway.
Pete “Maverick” Mitchell hasn’t spoken his last word and will take to the skies once again. Top Gun 3 is officially in the works, although we don’t know when it will hit theaters. The script will once again be written by Ehren Kruger (known for other hits like Dumbo and the Transformers series), and Joe Kosinski is set to return to the director’s chair. Alongside Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell are expected to return for the film.
This information came a few days after Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Cruise had signed a contract for their upcoming films. The contract, of course, does not grant exclusivity to WB, as evident from today’s announcement. Some may see the new Top Gun as a response or a playful jab at Warner Bros., but work on this film has been underway for some time, and it was officially announced today that it is indeed happening.
