“Ripley” is a psychological thriller based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” In 1999, a film with the same title, starring Matt Damon, was released. A quarter of a century later, Mr. Ripley returns, this time in a TV series where the titular role will be played by Andrew Scott. The production is set to premiere next month and has just received a new, full trailer.
The story unfolds in 1960s New York. Tom Ripley is hired by a wealthy man to persuade his wayward son to return home from Italy. However, Tom’s introduction into the peaceful life of Dickie Greenleaf abroad is the first step into a complex life full of deception, fraud, and murder.
The series is created by Steven Zaillian. Alongside Scott, the cast includes Johnny Flynn (Dickie Greenleaf), Dakota Fanning (Marge Sherwood), as well as Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy, and John Malkovich.
“Ripley” is set to premiere on Netflix on April 4th.
