Dua Lipa is gearing up for the release of her latest single, and it’s happening sooner than you might expect.

On Wednesday (Nov. 1), the three-time Grammy winner took to her social media platforms to share the much-anticipated news.

Her new single, “Houdini,” is set to drop on Nov. 9. Dua Lipa revealed the single’s cover art, featuring her sporting a new ginger look while licking her reflection’s tongue, and she confirmed the song’s release time. In the caption, she wrote, “HOUDINI NOV 9TH 11PM GMT. PRE ORDER IN BIO” (11 p.m. GMT is equivalent to 7 p.m. ET on that Thursday).

The official announcement of “Houdini” follows weeks of cryptic teasers that the “New Rules” singer had been sharing and deleting on her social media, a nod to the elusive nature of Harry Houdini, the iconic Hungarian-American escape artist and illusionist from whom Dua Lipa’s new single draws its title. Although her Instagram page now only displays the “Houdini” cover art, Lipa’s timeline still retains some of those earlier teasers, including the original image she used to debut her new red hair with the caption, “Miss me?”

“Houdini” will be Lipa’s second music release of the year. On May 25, she dropped “Dance the Night” for the Barbie soundtrack. The nu-disco hit reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and secured the top positions on both the Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay charts. The Warner Bros. “for your consideration” website includes “Dance the Night” in its submissions for the Best Original Song category at the upcoming 96th Oscars.

Dua Lipa hasn’t released a full album since 2020’s “Future Nostalgia,” the disco-themed record that earned her a Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Album, solidified her status in the upper echelons of pop music, and included chart-topping hits like “Levitating” (No. 2), “Don’t Start Now” (No. 2), and “Break My Heart” (No. 13) on the Billboard Hot 100. During the interim, she achieved another Hot 100 top 10 hit with “Cold Heart” (No. 7) alongside Elton John and PNAU and collaborated with artists like Megan Thee Stallion (“Sweetest Pie,” No. 15) and Calvin Harris and Young Thug (“Potion,” No. 71).

Stay tuned for Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” dropping on Nov. 9!
