Max has unveiled the preview for the upcoming Season 2 of its original crime series “Tokyo Vice,” slated to premiere on February 8. The season will kick off with a double episode release, followed by weekly single-episode releases over the next eight weeks.

Ansel Elgort leads the cast as an American journalist based in Tokyo, created and written by J.T. Rogers.

The show delves into the Tokyo underworld, drawing inspiration from journalist Jake Adelstein’s experiences with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. As Adelstein, Elgort realizes the imminent danger looming over his life and those close to him.

Apart from Elgort, the series stars Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, Ayumi Ito, along with new regulars Yosuke Kubozuka and Miki Maya. Watanabe plays Hiroto Katagiri, a detective focused on organized crime, collaborating closely with Jake. Keller portrays Samantha, an American expat working as a club hostess in Tokyo.

The executive producers include Rogers, Alan Poul, Alex Boden, Josef Kubota Wladyka, Brad Caleb Kane, Adam Stein, Ken Watanabe, Emily Gerson Saines, Ansel Elgort, Jake Adelstein, Kayo Washio, Destin Daniel Cretton, John Lesher, and Michael Mann.

The first season premiered on Max in April 2022, receiving generally positive reviews from critics.

Rogers, known for plays such as “Oslo” and “Blood and Gifts,” created the series. Elgort, who recently starred as Tony in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of “West Side Story” alongside Rachel Zegler’s Maria, leads the cast.
