Zayn Malik is a very successful singer nowadays, but have you ever wondered how he rose to such prominence?
As a teenager, Zayn started performing arts courses and appearing in many school productions. Around the same time, he even began writing raps. In 2017, the singer auditioned for the seventh season of competition series “The X Factor.” He was eliminated before the final round, but he was brought back along with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson to form a boy group. That’s how One Direction was born.
One Direction quickly gained popularity in the UK and finished the competition in the third place. They released their debut album “Up All Night” on 18 November 2011 and shortly became a worldwide sensation in the music industry.
Zayn released three more albums with the group (“Take Me Home,” “Midnight Memories” and “Four”) and left One Direction in 2015 to pursue a solo career.
The singer released his debut solo album “Mind of Mine” on 25 March 2016. The record debuted at no. 1 spot in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.
Zayn’s sophomore album “Icarus Falls” was released on 14 December 2018, but it did not repeat the commercial success of its predecessor.
The singer has recently published successful singles and collaborations. He is also expecting his first child with girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
