Jennifer Lopez has been featured on the cover of the upcoming issue of Variety. In the magazine, she talks about the blackout during her New York City concert in July, self-reinvention, upcoming movie “Hustlers” and plans for directing movies in the future.
On the blackout – “I was like, ‘It’s going to come back on!’ I didn’t realize how much it meant to me to perform there. It’s just a really big deal,” says Jennifer. “They said, ‘Insurance will pay for it; they’ll refund everybody.’ And I was like, ‘That’s not the point.’ The point is this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a lot of these people, and I’m not going to do this show ever again. So we’ll do it. And I added another show.”
On having her own money as a child – “My first paycheck was probably when I was 10 years old. I used to sweep the hair at a beauty salon and clean the sinks. I just wanted my $10, to go do whatever I wanted with. And it was such a great feeling.”
