As reported by Deadline, Deadpool 3 won’t hit the big screens on May 3, 2024. Such a development isn’t surprising, especially considering that just a few days ago, the film’s director, Shawn Levy, considered a May release highly unlikely. Even if the actors’ strike were to conclude in the coming weeks, there’s still too much to be done on set and in post-production for it to be finished within half a year.
However, the new release date for Deadpool 3 has not been confirmed. Deadline speculates on several possibilities. The first is July 26, when Captain America 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters (production on this film is more advanced than the story of the Merc with a Mouth), although the chances of this happening are slim. This is because the production would need to be rescheduled to May 3.
Since Disney tends to announce release dates for its productions well in advance, a more realistic option seems to be early November or even the holiday season next year. On December 20, 2024, Thunderbolts was set to be released in theaters, but its release date is also likely to be postponed.
Deadline notes that a series of announcements about the delay of premieres for many highly anticipated productions will be made soon.
