On Friday, Zac Efron was rushed to the hospital after he was found in the pool of his Ibiza villa by two workers. Details are scarce on the true extent of the “Greatest Showman” actor’s “minor swimming accident”; his representative says that the hospitalization is merely a “precautionary measure”.
Today, it seems that the 36-year-old is back on his feet. On Instagram, the “High School Musical” and “Iron Claw” star posted a photo of himself doing weightlifting shirtless with a caption that read: “happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes”. He was reportedly being discharged from hospital on Saturday morning.
Efron is vacationing in Spain after attending the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony on July 26. On his Insta, the actor constantly updates fans with photos of him enjoying the Ibiza sun. So it came as a shock when suddenly there were reports of him suffering a medical emergency. Suspicion of intoxication or, worse, heart attack emerged since the former Disney star allegedly had to be pulled out of water by villa attendants.
This is not the first time Efron is in the headlines for health-related matters. In 2022, following months of speculation about plastic surgery, the actor came forward to reveal that he had suffered an accident at home that badly injured his chin. The recovery process was tough, since his masseter muscles, which are responsible for chewing, kept getting bigger and therefore radically transformed his face.
“I almost died, but we’re good,” the star said at the time.
With the incident behind him, Efron only has great things ahead. The actor can be seen on “A Family Affair”, his new Netflix comedy also starring Nicole Kidman.
