Netflix has confirmed that Wednesday Season 3 is now in production, introducing major new cast members including Eva Green and Winona Ryder to the gothic world of Nevermore Academy. The streaming service shared a teaser video announcing the start of filming in Ireland, spotlighting key returning stars alongside the fresh additions to the ensemble.
Green, who has previously worked with executive producer and director Tim Burton on projects including “Dark Shadows” and “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”, will portray Ophelia Frump, the long-lost sister of Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) whose reemergence promises to deepen the Addams Family mythology.
Ryder, meanwhile, is set to appear in a yet-to-be-fully described role named Tabitha, reuniting her with Burton and lead actress Jenna Ortega following their collaborations on “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and classic Burton films like “Edward Scissorhands”. Ryder’s casting was revealed in the same announcement video, alongside other new cast members joining the season.
The official production teaser is set to a gloriously campy waltz scene by the Addamses butler Lurch as he sets tables in the family’s gothic manor. Season 3 is expected to continue Wednesday’s enigmatic journey in a world filled with monsters and mysteries – in particular, the search for her missing werewolf friend, Enid.No release date has been announced yet, but with principal photography underway and a typical post-production timeline, Wednesday Season 3 is anticipated to arrive on Netflix in early 2027.
