“WandaVision”: Check the Reviews of the First Marvel TV Show on Disney+

454views

“WandaVision” is already among us! The first two episodes premiered on Friday at Disney+ in a format very much different from any Marvel project that have been previously released.

This post is free of “WandaVision” spoilers, but contains “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” spoilers.

Vision (Paul Bettany) had its last appearance in “Avengers: Inifinity War,” when he was killed by Thanos (Josh Brolin) to have the gem that stays in his head. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) faces directly the villain who decimated half the universe with the snap of fingers, speaking the famous phrase “you took everything from me,” in reference to Vision. At the end of “Avengers: Endgame,” nothing is discussed about Vision, but it does mention the fact that Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) returned all the infinity gems to the moments that were taken from the Marvel Universe.

It is a fact that “WandaVision” is a sequence of the story of Wanda Maximoff and Vision after the defeat of Thanos in “Avengers: Endgame.” The project begins Marvel’s fourth film phase and the premiere of the direct connection of the universe with the television series at Disney+.

At Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 97% approval rate. Check some reactions below:

She’s not the first superhero to be affected acutely by emotional pain; everyone knows that quote about great power and great responsibility. Yet for an MCU project, the choice to focus on Wanda’s inner life is revolutionary.

Shirley Li from The Atlantic

MarvelVision isn’t just some one-off experiment. It’s the future of the MCU. At least, fans can hope.

Eliana Dockterman from TIME Magazine

It’s all deliciously, confidently, stylishly done. The parodies are fantastic fun, the jokes are great, the performances (especially from Olsen and Bettany, whose chemistry is a joy in itself) are wonderful.

Lucy Mangan from Guardian

In Metacritic, the series is rated 76. Check some reactions below:

WandaVision is primarily designed with MCU fans in mind, though casual viewers can more or less jump right in with no prior knowledge. (Everyone on this show is confused, too, so that helps.) But don’t let the show’s outside-the-box approach worry you: Yes, WandaVision is unlike anything Marvel has done before — but it turns out that’s a very good thing.

Rebecca Iannucci from TV Line

It’s great TV on its own merits. But for those who relish these stories but always want them to reach further, WandaVision is a true triumph.

Liz Shannon Miller from Collider

Success will depend on whether the eventual answers are satisfying — and whether all those fancy sitcom adornments are just a long wind-up to an overly familiar superhero smash-up. Consider WandaVision an unusual first step for this new Marvel phase. The best parts lovingly conjure the mood of very old television shows. The worst parts feel like just another movie.
