The World’s Most Glamorous Casinos

55views

Casinos and glamor go together like champagne and caviar. The reasons for this are fairly easy to deduce. That’s because they’re places that the movers, shakers, and high rollers go to see and be seen. Places where fortunes can be made and lost in opulent surroundings.

The games themselves exude glamor, too, from the hushed atmosphere around the roulette table to the roll of the craps dice as players and observers look on with excitement.

And while all casinos have a certain ambiance of sophistication and exclusivity, some take this to a whole new level. Sited in some of the world’s most desirable destinations across the US, Europe, and Asia, here are five of the very best of them.

The Venetian Macao

While gambling is strictly forbidden in mainland China, an exception is made in the case of this special administrative region, which, for several centuries, was under Portuguese control. But it’s not Portugal that provides the inspiration for this incredible casino – it’s Italy by way of the US. That’s because the Venetian is an Asian interpretation of the casino resort of the same name in Las Vegas. The largest casino in the world, and the figures around it are amazing.

Covering a total area of 10.5 million square feet in total it has 800 gaming tables and over 3,400 slot machines in its gaming area. Adjoining it is the 15,000-seat Cotai Arena, and the resort has 3,000 rooms and luxury suites. Most impressive of all, it has its canal network where you can take a gondola ride while being serenaded by an authentic gondolier.

Caesars Palace, Las Vegas

Ask many people which Las Vegas casino comes to mind first and it’s highly likely that the answer will be Caesars Palace. It first opened way back in 1966 when Vegas was truly in its Rat Pack heyday and has always been the byword for majesty and opulence.

From the outset, the idea was to give visitors the feeling that they were honored guests in Imperial Rome, and there are many reproductions of antiquities, including a 20-foot-high statue of Augustus Caesar that greets anyone entering the casino resort.

Caesars Palace is almost as famous for its shows, which have starred some of the biggest names in entertainment over the six decades that it has been open. These include everyone from Adele to Elton John and Mariah Carey to Tom Jones. Caesars has also moved with the times to build up a global brand. For example, it’s highly visible in the online arena with its own casino. Players will find that Caesars releases promo codes frequently offering great incentives to try it out for themselves if they can’t make it down to the casino itself.

Casino de Monte Carlo, Monaco

To Europe now with a casino that’s synonymous with extravagance and exclusivity – and one that has even been immortalized in song. The history of the casino is as captivating as the building itself. Having declared independence from France in the 19th century, the ruling Grimaldi family needed to replace the tax revenue the principality would no longer receive. The solution was to build a casino that would attract the cream of Europe’s society.

Today anyone can play there, with the exception of native Monegasques. Anyone who does will find themselves surrounded by stunning Belle Époque interiors resplendent in gold and illuminated by crystal chandeliers.

It features over 100 gaming tables. And, on the many fine nights enjoyed in this part of the Mediterranean, you can even play under the stars on the casino’s lavish gaming terrace.

Bellagio, Las Vegas

Back to Vegas for the final casino on our world tour. Bellagio has been made especially famous by its appearance in the Ocean’s 11 movies. So, if you want to visit and look as good as George Clooney or Julia Roberts did in the picture, it could pay to pick up a few Vegas-style tips before you go. Just make sure to also follow the rules, and stay safe. Play on some of the thousands of gaming machines or try your luck at one of the tables – it’s especially well-known for its high-stakes poker games.

And let’s not forget its famous illuminated fountain display. This takes place every 30 minutes from early afternoon until midnight. Built at a cost of $40 million, for a long time, it was the biggest fountain in the world but has since been eclipsed by one in Dubai.

So, whichever of these casinos you decide to visit, you are guaranteed a luxurious and exclusive experience. And the true beauty of all of these locations is that there is plenty more to enjoy nearby from Michelin-starred restaurants to natural attractions. So even when you’ve had enough of playing the tables or spinning the slots, there will be ample other leisure opportunities for you to indulge in.
