12 years after NBC’s “The Office” shuttered its door, co-creator Greg Daniels is gearing up to return to the world of offbeat mockumentary and office hijinks with “The Paper”. Starring Domnhall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, “The Paper” is a spinoff set in the same world as the Steve Carrell comedy. The new Peacock sitcom features the camera crew from the OG “The Office” as they follow the staff of yet another company, this time a dilapidated newspaper in Toledo, Ohio.
Just like its flagship series, the new mockumentary will highlight the banal minutiae and office dynamics as the newspaper, Toledo Truth-Teller, struggles to reclaim its past glory. Gleeson stars as Ned Sampson, the paper’s new editor-in-chief who’s in over his head. Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, and Alex Edelman also co-star. One familiar face from “The Office” also popped up: Oscar Nunez reprising his role as Oscar Martinez — though he seems none too pleased to see the camera crew again in the trailer.
“The Paper” premieres in Peacock on September 4, 2025.
