“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” Set For a Clobberin’ $125 Million Opening Weekend Amid Fantastic Reviews

Fans of Marvel’s First Family can breathe a sigh of relief. The forthcoming movie — starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — has been earning the studio its best reviews in a while. Read more to find out what critics are saying. 

Reviews for First Steps are praising the movie for its wonderful cast chemistry, immaculate production design, and instantly iconic score, though the villains feel rather underbaked. Nearly all of them agree that this is without a doubt the best Fantastic Four adaptation after years of “false starts and forgettable reboots”.

In the grander scheme of things, First Steps ”feels polished in a way that not all MCU projects have… [It] feels like it comes from a Marvel Studios firing on all cylinders,” said ComicBookMovies.com before declaring it “the superhero event of the summer.”

According to Variety, the film could be ”just what it takes to win back audiences suffering from superhero exhaustion,” with The Hollywood Reporter specifically pointing out its ”fresh willingness to prioritize character over the usual barrage of interchangeable CG action sequences that often overwhelm them.” 

Needless to say, anticipations are high for the retro-futuristic movie, with the trades predicting a supersized opening north of $125 million. That could potentially topple the best opening record of the year, held by Superman with $125 million. The summer of superheroes is officially back!
