On Sunday, the 2026 Actor Awards, formerly Screen Actors Guild Awards, unfolded with some surprises and heartfelt moments – with Kristen Bell back as host. Among the night’s most talked about winners was Michael B. Jordan, who won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Sinners. Other highlights include Catherine O’Hara’s posthumous win and the touching tribute that followed, as well as Harrison Ford receiving the Lifetime Achievement award in his wisecracking way.
The night belonged to Sinners. Alongside Jordan’s win, the drama also took home Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, a top honor that brought the Sinners ensemble to the stage together. The win solidifies its chance at nabbing Best Picture at the Oscars, where it would go head to head with fellow frontrunner One Battle After Another.
On the Television front, The Studio and The Pitt each emerged on top in their respective categories. The Studio’s ensemble earned accolades in comedy for its sharp portrayal of life behind the cameras, while taut medical series The Pitt clinched drama ensemble prize.
One of the evening’s most poignant moments came with a posthumous win for O’Hara, who took home the trophy for her final television performance. When her name was announced, the room responded with a lengthy standing ovation as her The Studio co-star and producer Seth Rogen accepted the prize on her behalf. In his speech, Rogen praised O’Hara’s ability to be great, but also kind – proving why she was one of the most beloved artists among her peers.
Meanwhile, Star Wars and Indiana Jones screen legend Harrison Ford was feted for his five decades Hollywood career. His speech was a mix of levity and poignance as he reflected on his grueling start as an actor and gratitude for the career he had.
The Actor Awards served not only as another glamorous Hollywood award ceremony, but the last major precursor to the Oscars. The world is watching to see how many of its outcomes will line up with The Academy Awards’ on March 16.
