Apple TV+ is heading back to Richmond. Ted Lasso has officially been renewed for a fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the relentlessly optimistic football coach. The announcement is accompanied by a first-look teaser that outlines a new direction for the Emmy-winning comedy. See the trailer below!
Core cast members expected back include Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent and Juno Temple as Keeley Jones. Jeremy Swift and Phil Dunster are also expected to reprise their roles, though final deals for some supporting players are still being finalized. A slew of new cast members is slated to join the cast: Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern. Grant Feely joins as a recast of Ted’s son, Henry Lasso.
Season 4 will pivot into new territory, with a major storyline centered on women’s football. The teaser hints at AFC Richmond launching a women’s team, expanding the show’s scope beyond the men’s Premier League narrative that defined its first three seasons. The shift aligns with growing global interest in women’s football and offers a fresh narrative engine for the series.
Production is expected to begin later this year in the U.K., with returning creative forces including executive producers Bill Lawrence and Brendan Hunt.
The original run of Ted Lasso became one of Apple TV+’s biggest breakout hits, earning multiple Primetime Emmy Awards and widespread critical acclaim for its mix of humor and emotional storytelling. Season 3, which aired in 2023, was widely viewed as a potential ending, making the renewal a surprise treat for fans.
Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres August 5, 2026, on Apple TV+.
