Taylor Swift is heading to infinity and beyond. The pop superstar officially announced Monday that she has written and recorded an original song for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

Written and produced by Swift and her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, the track will be released June 5 ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on June 19. The announcement came after a wave of cryptic “TS” billboards, countdown clocks and online Easter eggs that had fueled rumors among fans for weeks.

In an Instagram post announcing the song, Swift said she had dreamed of writing for the Toy Story franchise since childhood. “I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages,” she wrote, adding that she finished the song immediately after the screening.

Director Andrew Stanton said the track is closely tied to Jessie’s storyline in the new film, praising Swift’s immediate emotional connection to the beloved cowgirl character first introduced in Toy Story 2. Disney described the song as a return to Swift’s country roots, blending elements from across her career.

The announcement also marks Swift’s first original song release since her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. Special collector’s edition CDs featuring acoustic and piano versions of the track are already available for preorder through her official website.

Toy Story 5 reunites franchise stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack while introducing several new characters. The film follows Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of Bonnie’s toys as they once again face the threat of extinction as kids turn to technology. The film will reportedly feature Jessie, longtime a reliable side character in the franchise, front and center – hence the Swift involvement in shaping her storyline.
