Taylor Swift Battles for Her Own Music

417views

Taylor Swift is currently battling for the right to use her old music during live performances. Several months ago, it was announced that Taylor’s master records (in other words – all the songs from her first six albums) were purchased by manager Scooter Braun. The manager bought Taylor’s former recording company – Big Machine – for $300 million.

Taylor Swift will be honoured with the Artist of the Decade Award during the 2019 American Music Awards. The rumour has it that Scooter Braun does not agree on Taylor singing her old songs… unless she accepts his conditions… which Taylor does not want to.

Taylor is also currently working on the Netflix documentary where she wanted to use her songs but again… Scooter Braun will not let her use her older music and performance footage for the project.

That is why, Taylor called on her fans in an open letter to support her in the battle against Scooter Braun and Big Machine.

Taylor Swift is also supported by other artists in the battle. Selena Gomez is one of the supporters who came forward and posted several harsh words towards the manager.

“My heart is so heavy right now. It makes me sick and extremely angry. It’s greed, manipulation and power. There is no heart or thought of anyone else’s. No respect for the words my friend has written since she was a 14 year old in her bedroom. You’ve robbed and crushed one of our best song writers of our time an opportunity to celebrate all of her music with fans and the world,” admits Selena in her letter.

Gigi Hadid and Halsey are also among celebrities who support Taylor. Funny enough, Scooter Braun currently manages Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande.
