From friendship bracelets to engagement rings… the singer and her footballer beau are taking the next step in their love story by dropping news of their engagement on Instagram. Taylor and Travis, who began dating in 2023, jointly posted photos from their beautiful garden proposal in a carousel post that has amassed over 29 million likes in under 24 hours.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they wrote in the caption. The post is set to Taylor’s song “so high school”, which is strongly believed to be about the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end.
The pictures showcased the newly engaged couple embracing in a flower-filled garden. In one of the photos, Taylor can be seen flashing her massive engagement ring, which reportedly Travis personally designed with Kindred Lubeck from Artifex Fine Jewelry. Industry experts are estimating that the eight-carat cushion-cut diamond is worth up to $5 million.
The pair’s romance has rivaled the singer’s dramatic lyrics from the beginning. In 2023, Travis admitted on his podcast, New Heights, that he was trying to give Taylor his number placed on a friendship bracelet while attending her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. Although he didn’t succeed, the “Cruel Summer” singer apparently got wind of his public confession and ended up meeting him privately. That turned into a more serious relationship and on September 24 that year, she showed up to watch Travis’ game with the Chiefs alongside his family. By that time, Taylor later said on her appearance in New Heights, they were already a couple.
