And the Blake Lively v Justin Baldoni feud keeps snowballing. According to sources, the lawsuit has caused a rift between Lively and her longtime friend, singer Taylor Swift. Their friendship has reportedly “halted” after Swift’s name was mentioned as one party whom the Gossip Girl star engaged to “bully” Baldoni into approving her version of It Ends With Us script, per Baldoni’s side.
Early this month, Baldoni’s legal team subpoenaed Swift in a bid to obtain text message exchanges between Swift and Lively. Court documents alleged that Lively had instructed Swift to delete their conversations and threatened to leak them if Swift did not comply. Lively’s representatives categorically denied the claim and it was later deemed inadmissible by a judge.
Swift, who has been lying low since her name was brought up in her friend’s legal issue, released a statement addressing the subpoena.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” Swift’s rep said in a statement. “She did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
The rep continued: “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
According to multiple sources, Swift is now distancing herself from Lively. The pair had been close for at least a decade, with Swift even becoming the godmother to Lively’s four children with actor Ryan Reynolds.
“Taylor is very uncomfortable about being pulled into the lawsuit,” one source surmised. “It’s a huge thing now.”
