The two-hour finale immediately divided audiences online, with reactions ranging from “beautiful and perfect” to “anticlimactic and disappointing.”

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Stranger Things 5: Volume 2 – and it wastes no time signaling that the endgame for Hawkins will be bigger, darker and far more emotional than anything the series has attempted before.

When Stranger Things burst back onto screens with the first four episodes of Season 5 on November 26, 2025, it didn’t just reopen the doors to the Upside Down, it also temporarily knocked out Netflix. Within minutes of the drop, thousands of fans encountered playback errors, app crashes, or login issues, as outage-tracking site Downdetector logged over 14,000 reports in the U.S. alone. Netflix later confirmed the disruption, saying “some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices,” but that “service recovered for all accounts within five minutes.”

Netflix just dropped the long-awaited trailer for Stranger Things Season 5, and fans are already dissecting every frame. The three-minute preview promises a dark, emotional, and action-packed finale that pushes Hawkins — and its heroes — to the brink of destruction.

The allegations were reported by the British tabloid Daily Mail. As the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things" premieres, a new controversy involving actor David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Jim Hopper in the series, has surfaced.

In an upside down move, Netflix has decided to screen “Stranger Things” in cinemas for a proper send-off. The two-hour series finale episode – titled “The Rightside Up” – will debut on December 31, 2025, simultaneously streaming on Netflix and playing in over 350 theatres across the U.S. and Canada. The show’s co-creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, called the move “something we’ve dreamed about for years” and envisioned the ending as an event—“a room full of fans” experiencing Hawkins one last time on the big screen. The upcoming season picks up in Hawkins circa 1987, with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Hawkins gang facing one final showdown after the Rifts open at the end of Season 4.

During Netflix’s Tudum showcase, a teaser for Stranger Things season 5 revealed, at long last, some brand new snippets and release dates. The epic finale to the megahit series will conclude in three parts, dated November 26 for part 1, December 25 for part 2, and December 31 for part 3. 

To drum up interest for its fifth and final season, “Stranger Things” has released the titles for all eight of its upcoming episodes. The video announcement was uploaded on November 6, the so-called Stranger Things Day – the date Noah Schnapp’s character Will Byers went missing in 1983, kickstarting the show.
