“Golden” turned the 2026 American Music Awards into a historic night for K-pop crossover music, with the breakout anthem from KPop Demon Hunters winning Song of the Year at Monday’s ceremony in Las Vegas.

Netflix is officially taking KPop Demon Hunters on the road. The streaming giant announced a worldwide concert tour based on the breakout animated film during its 2026 Upfront presentation. Produced in partnership between Netflix and AEG Presents, the upcoming “KPop Demon Hunters World Tour” will bring the fictional idol group HUNTR/X to audiences across multiple continents beginning in 2027.

As predicted, the 98th Academy Awards was essentially a two-film showdown, with “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” trading momentum throughout the night. By the final tally, One Battle After Another emerged as the night’s biggest winner with six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. Not far behind, Sinners secured four major wins, keeping the race tight from start to finish and reinforcing the season-long rivalry between the two films.

The demon-slaying K-pop idols of Huntr/X are heading back into battle. Netflix has officially greenlit a sequel to the animated musical phenomenon “KPop Demon Hunters,” which will reunite directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. The duo will return to write and direct the new installment as part of a multi-project deal with Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation.

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards unfolded on Sunday in Beverly Hills with a star-studded night of wins across film and television, honoring the best of 2025’s entertainment landscape. Hosted by Nikki Glaser and broadcast on CBS/Paramount+, the ceremony delivered surprises, historic firsts and early Oscar buzz.

In particular, the empowering anthem “Golden” has now ascended to no. 2 in the Billboard Hot 100, only held off by the stronghold of reigning champ “Ordinary” by Alex Warren. Within five weeks, the song steadily rose from no. 81 to runner up position, solidifying the growing popularity of the animated film and its addictive soundtrack. 

The new Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters is currently slaying Netflix charts worldwide. Since its release on June 20, the pic has been ranking first in 41 countries including South Korea, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Portugal. More impressively, the film also landed in Top 10 in 93 countries, proving its global popularity in such a short time.
