Sydney Sweeney’s Cameo Cut From “The Devil Wears Prada 2”

Sydney Sweeney may be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young stars, but even she isn’t immune to the cutting room floor. The Euphoria actress’ planned cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been removed ahead of the film’s theatrical release.

Sweeney had filmed a brief appearance — roughly three minutes — playing herself as a celebrity client in an early sequence opposite Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton, now reintroduced as a powerful fashion executive at Dior. The scene was designed to help reestablish Emily’s elevated status within the sequel’s narrative. However, filmmakers ultimately removed the segment, citing a “creative decision” after determining the sequence did not fit structurally with the rest of the film.

The sequel reunites core cast members including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci, continuing the story of Runway magazine as it navigates a changing media landscape. Additional cameos — including a reported appearance by Lady Gaga — remain intact.

For Sweeney, the cut comes amid a particularly busy stretch. The actress is currently appearing in Euphoria’s third season, reprising her role as Cassie Howard, while also headlining high profile projects such as The Housemaid – and its upcoming sequel The Housemaid’s Secret.

Sources close to the production emphasized that the decision to cut the cameo was not performance-related and described it as a difficult call made during post-production editing.

Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is gearing up for its May 1 global release – rolling the carpet for world premiere events in New York and London.
