Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour Reunite As Father-Daughter in New Netflix Spy Thriller

Just months after wrapping up Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour have signed on to headline a new untitled spy thriller from the streamer, reuniting as a father-and-daughter pair in what will be their first project together since the hit sci-fi series concluded. The announcement also puts to rest rumors that the two actors are at odds since their highly publicized feud on the set of Stranger Things season 5.  

Netflix has given the series a straight-to-series order, with A24 producing and acclaimed screenwriter Jack Thorne serving as creator, writer and executive producer. Thorne is best known for co-creating Adolescence and writing the Enola Holmes films, the latter of which also stars Brown. Loosely based on Paul Warner’s novel A Spy in the Blood, the series follows disgraced FBI agent Matt Wolfe, who is pulled back into the world of espionage after his estranged daughter Rebecca, now an FBI agent herself, disappears during a dangerous mission. Brown and Harbour will also executive produce the project.

With the announcement, Harbour and Brown appear to have buried the hatchet following headline-making reports of friction during the final season of Stranger Things. Both acknowledged they experienced disagreements after working together for nearly a decade, but described the conflict as a private matter that had long since been resolved. Harbour likened their relationship to that of a real family, while Brown expressed gratitude for the actor’s support throughout her formative years on the series.

The new series ensures that fans won’t have to wait long to see the pair share the screen again. Since Stranger Things wrapped, Brown has continued to expand her partnership with Netflix through Enola Holmes 3, while Harbour has kept busy with high-profile projects including Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, Violent Night 2 and a new Rambo reboot. Their latest collaboration suggests the on-screen chemistry that made Hopper and Eleven such fan favorites is far from over.
