The long-awaited trailer for Scream 7 just dropped, sending horror fans into a frenzy. The footage teases a darker, more personal installment that puts Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott front and center once again — her first appearance in the franchise since 2022. See the trailer below!
The trailer takes us back to the Macher house from the 1996 original, which ironically, has been turned into an AirBnB. There, we witness a double murder by two Ghostface-masked killers before we revisit Sidney, now living in a small town with her teenage daughter, Tatum (Isabel May). Her calm life is shattered when the Ghostface voice returns, snarling through a phone line: “Nice little town you found, you and your pretty daughter. I’m not hiding, not this time.” From there, the chaos spirals: blood-splattered hallways, a masked figure stalking Tatum through the woods, and Sidney arming herself once again.
Sharp-eyed fans spotted major spoilers in the footage, including the chilling distorted voice believed to belong to Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher — sparking theories that the long-dead killer might somehow return. There are also blink-and-you’ll-miss-them cameos from Courteney Cox and David Arquette, whose characters were killed off in the previous installments. It remains to be seen whether they appear in a flashback, a dream, or somehow survive their supposed deaths.
While fans cheered Campbell’s return, many took issue with the absence of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega—both of whom were key figures in the recent revival films. Barrera was fired after voicing her support for Palestine, and Ortega bowed out soon after, saying the project “didn’t feel like the right move.” Their absence leaves a major distaste for the project, which led to Campbell’s return after she quit the franchise earlier over pay dispute.
“Scream 7” is set to hit theaters February 27, 2026, under director and original co-writer Kevin Williamson.
