Sabrina Carpenter’s recent announcement for her new album has been met by fury online thanks to its bold cover.
On June 11, the Grammy winner released two cover art of her forthcoming album, Man’s Best Friend.
“My new album, ‘Man’s Best Friend’ is out on August 29, 2025. I can’t wait for it to be yours x. Pre-order now,” she wrote in her social media.
While fans get excited by a new album from the “Espresso” hitmaker, the covers immediately triggered controversy for depicting the singer crawling on all four while a faceless man stands before her, his hand clutching her hair. The other cover features the album’s title on the collar of a dog. Fans put two and two together and are now outraged by the photos, which suggestively likened the popstar to a canine. The title of the album further fueled the disturbing factor.
“Yikes. Calling yourself a man’s dog in the big year of 2025? You were doing so well, girl. Ughhhh, whyyy?” one commenter protested.
“Sabrina, this is not the slay you think it is…,” another chimed in.
More remarks of similar nature have flooded the singer’s comment sections, but she remains mum so far. Ahead of Man’s Best Friend’s August release, Carpenter just released the music video for its first single, Manchild, on June 5.
