In her Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper Please Please Please, Sabrina Carpenter sings about begging a lover not to embarrass her and prove her (suspicion) right. The music video featured the Irish rising actor Barry Keoghan, Carpenter’s rumored beau all through 2024. Now, it appears that the lovebirds have called it quits.
According to sources close to the couple, the two have decided to take a break to focus on their respective careers. Another widely circulated report online talks of “an A-list singer who’s having her breakout year” having a rift with “her foreign boyfriend” for allegedly cheating on the singer with an LA-based influencer. The couple in question is strongly suspected to be Carpenter and Keoghan. Both sides have remained mum on the subject.
In 2024, both are enjoying such lucrative careers. Fueled by the back-to-back successes of “Espresso”, “Please Please Please” and “Taste”, Carpenter’s album “Short n’ Sweet” hit #1 on Billboard Hot 200 and became one of the highest selling albums in 2024. Her tour in support of the album also sold out arenas all over North America. Keoghan, too, is fast becoming the hottest actor in Hollywood: he’s set to appear in Peaky Blinders’ continuation film The Immortal Man with Cillian Murphy, Hurry Up Tomorrow with The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega, and Sam Mendes’ The Beatles biopic as Ringo Starr.
The couple was first linked together in December last year. Things escalated when the Saltburn actor started openly interacting with the “Espresso” songstress’ social media posts. But although Keoghan appeared on “Please Please Please” as Carpenter’s lover, the two never quite confirmed their IRL relationship. Interestingly, following the breakup rumor, his Insta account, @keoghan92, has since been deactivated.
