The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) is a Canadian singer and songwriter whose singles “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights” recently topped the US Billboard Hot 100. Have you ever wondered how he rose to such recognition?

In 2010, he uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name of “The Weeknd.” One year later, he released three mixtapes – “House of Balloons,” “Thursday” and “Echoes of Silence.” They quickly gained popularity and brought him recognition from some mainstream publications.

In 2013, he released his debut album “Kiss Land,” which received positive reviews and peaked at no. 2 at the US Billboard 200. The true prominence came with his second album “Beauty Behind the Madness” released in 2015. It was the singer’s first-number one album in the United States.

The third album “Starboy” quickly followed and debuted at no. 1 at the US Billboard 200. In 2020, the Weeknd released his fourth album “After Hours,” which also topped the US album charts and produced number-one singles “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights.”

The Weeknd is set to promote the new album with the tour which will kick off on 11 June 2020 in Vancouver (Canada) and conclude on 13 November 2020 in Paris (France).

With so many successful albums and new projects in the works, the singer has a bright future ahead of him for years to come!
