Roddy Ricch is a rapper whose “The Box” has been America’s number one song for 11 weeks now. Have you ever wondered how he rose to such prominence?

Roddy started singing and rapping at the age of 8. When he was 16 years old, he began making beats. Around that time, the rapper was also a part of the street gang SouthSide Compton Crips.

He released his first mixtape “Feed Tha Streets” on 22 November 2017 through the Bird Vision Entertainment. The record was not a commercial success, but it earned him praise and respect from such rappers as Meek Mill, Nipsey Hussle and DJ Mustard.

In July 2018, Roddy released “Die Young,” a track dedicated to a childhood friend who died as a result of a high speed chase. The song gained 80 million views on YouTube and 120 millions streams on Spotify.

In 2019, he collaborated with Nipsey Hussle on “Racks in the Middle.” The song turned out to be a commercial success and peaked at no. 26 at the US Billboard Hot 100.

Roddy’s debut album “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” was released on 6 December 2019 and it debuted atop the US Billboard 200. The album was promoted by four singles – “Big Stepper,” “Start wit Me,” “Tip Toe” and “The Box.”

Roddy is one of the hottest names in the music industry right now. With a very successful album and single (“The Box”), he has a bright future ahead of him for years to come.
