Christina Aguilera is currently a renowned singer and a five-time Grammy Award winner, but have you ever wondered how she rose to such prominence?

Christina expressed her interest in music as a child. She was drawn to blues and soul, which quickly earned her a reputation as “the little girl with the big voice.” During her youth, she appeared on the competition show “Star Search” and sang the US national anthem for athletic teams from Pittsburgh multiple times.

In 1991, she auditioned for “The Mickey Mouse Club,” but was initially rejected due to her age. She tried again two years later and she got in along with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. The show was cancelled in 1994, which prompted Christina to move to Japan to explore career opportunities there.

In 1998, Christina returned to the United States to seek a recording contract. She was selected to sing “Reflection” for the Disney movie “Mulan.” She finally signed a recording deal with the RCA Records.

The singer’s debut single “Genie in a Bottle” was released on 22 June 1999 and quickly topped the charts all around the world. Christina’s self-titled debut album was released on 24 August 1999 and turned out to be a huge commercial success. The record also produced three more singles – “What a Girl Wants,” “I Turn to You,” “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You),” which also became top ten charting hits.

Christina released further seven studio albums over the years – “Mi Reflejo,” “My Kind of Christmas,” “Stripped,” “Back to Basics,” “Bionic,” “Lotus” and “Liberation.” All of them performed very well on the charts with “Stripped” and “Back to Basics” paving the way for younger generations of musicians.

The singer also appeared on the competition show “The Voice” over the course of 6 seasons. Christina even won the tenth season with her contestant Alisan Porter in 2016.

Recently, Christina has been focusing on both her family and her music. To support the release of “Liberation,” she embarked on a world tour and headlined her own Las Vegas residency – “The Xperience.”

Christina Aguilera has been recently involved in numerous successful projects, the fact which undeniably proves that she still has a lot to say in the music industry.
