The Prince and Princess of Wales are on the move. The couple and their three children – George, Charlotte, and Louis – are relocating from their current home, Adelaide Cottage, to a new one, Forest Lodge, just a few blocks away. The family reportedly plans to move just in time for Christmas this year.
Nestled deep in the Great Windsor Park, Forest Lodge boasts eight bedrooms and six bathrooms and is roughly double the size of Adelaide Cottage. Situated further from Windsor Castle, the estate will give the family more privacy given its secluded location.
“It’s about as isolated as you can get there, so you can see the attraction for them,” said one insider. “It’s situated in a huge private chunk of Windsor Great Park, and the children can go out cycling for miles and not come anywhere near any of the local residents. There’s a nearby fishing lake that’s open only to staff, but that’s it. It’s also a lot closer—probably a 15-minute drive—to their current school.”
According to InStyle, Forest Lodge was built by non-royals in 1770 – making it a 255 year old property as of 2025 – and acquired by the Crown on June 27, 1829. The property was then known as Holly Grove, presumably because its original owner, Spencer Mackay, owned multiple sugar plantations in the Caribbean, including one called Cane Grove. It was renamed to Forest Lodge in 1937 by then-resident Sir John Aird.
This is not the first time the Waleses have moved house. They previously lived at Kensington Palace from 2013 to 2022 before relocating to Adelaide Cottage in 2022. With Forest Lodge, however, the couple is intent on creating their “forever home”, according to royal insiders.
