Paramount has released the first trailer for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, reuniting audiences with an adult Aang and the original Team Avatar years after the Hundred Year War. Originally announced as a theatrical release from Avatar Studios, the project later shifted to a Paramount+ exclusive as part of the studio’s revised release strategy following its merger with Skydance. See the trailer below!
Directed by franchise veteran Lauren Montgomery from a screenplay by Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost, the film is based on a story developed by Avatar creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino. Eric Nam leads the voice cast as Aang alongside Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph and Steven Yeun as Fire Lord Zuko. Dave Bautista joins the franchise as Tagah, while Taika Waititi, Ken Jeong, Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, Ronny Chieng and Geraldine Viswanathan also lend their voices to the film.
According to Paramount’s official synopsis, the story takes place after Aang’s victory over Fire Lord Ozai. When he discovers another surviving Airbender named Tagah, the pair embarks on a quest with Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko to recover a legendary airbending staff before a dangerous group known as the Denied can claim it and threaten the fragile peace Team Avatar fought so hard to achieve. The trailer showcases sweeping elemental battles, breathtaking landscapes and emotional reunions while offering a glimpse of an older generation of heroes facing new responsibilities.
The movie has followed an unusual path to release. It was initially slated for theaters before Paramount moved it to streaming, and an unfinished version leaked online earlier this year. The official trailer finally gives audiences a polished look at Avatar Studios’ first feature project and introduces a new era for one of animation’s most celebrated fantasy worlds.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026, kicking off Avatar Studios’ first feature-length adventure and expanding the story that began with Nickelodeon’s acclaimed series two decades ago.
