Since February, news has been brewing of a potential new romance between Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise and actress Ana de Armas. The two were caught spending time together multiple times, sparking a dating rumor. But could it be just a publicity stunt? It appears that the pair is currently working on a new movie together, an untitled outer space action epic by Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie.
“Obviously, everyone knows I’m working with Tom Cruise,” the “Ballerina” star hinted during an interview with Women’s Wear Daily.
The “Knives Out” actress revealed that she has been “doing crazy training” in preparation for working with Cruise and went on to gush about him and the team, calling them “unbelievable at everything they do” and “so lovely.”
Still, Cruise and de Armas apparently spent a lot of time together off set. They were photographed enjoying nighttime helicopter rides in London several times and made no effort to hide having dinner dates in March and April. Cruise also brought de Armas to David Beckham’s star-studded 50th birthday bash last month, where they were photographed trying to duck behind their SUV to hide from paparazzi.
During the promo cycle for “Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning”, Cruise was also all praise for de Armas’ forthcoming “Ballerina.”
“I saw the movie. It just kicks ass,” Cruise told a reporter. “Oh, man, it’s right in that tone. It’s right in that big world. You’re going to love it.”
As the two remain coy about the nature of their relationship, sources are saying that Cruise “smitten” with the Cuban-Spanish actress and has been “courting” her. The source however remains unsure if the two are romantically linked or just really enjoy working together.
