The official nominations to the 2019 American Music Awards were announced on 24 October (Thursday). This year’s show will be hosted by American actress Tracee Ellis Ross and held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
There are artists who have scored multiple nominations, but Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish are leading with six nominations in such categories as Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Favourite Female Artist and Favourite Album – Pop/Rock.
Taylor Swift received five nominations, including Artist of the Year, Favourite Music Video and Favourite Female Artist.
Canadian singer Shawn Mendes scored two nominations – Collaboration of the Year (“Señorita”) and Favourite Social Artist.
The Jonas Brothers also received two nominations – Favourite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock and Favourite Song – Pop/Rock (“Sucker”).
Korean sensation BTS came with three nominations – Tour of the Year, Favourite Social Artist and Favourite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock.
Other nominees include Drake, Halsey, Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Pink, Ed Sheeran, Lil Nas, Panic! At The Disco, Carrie Underwood, Cardi B and Blake Shelton.
The winners will be chosen by the public and fans with a poll. Votes can be cast at the official American Music Awards website.
The award show will air live on 24 November (Sunday) on ABC at 8 PM EST.
