Naomi Osaka’s 2026 U.S. Open run has come to an end, taking with it a week of headline-making fashion moments that turned her appearances at Flushing Meadows into a major style story. The four-time Grand Slam champion lost to Elena Rybakina 6-3, 6-4 in the fourth round on Monday, September 7, after a tournament campaign shaped by her collaboration with celebrity stylist Law Roach.
Osaka entered the tournament with an Allen Iverson-inspired look from New York label Who Decides War, complete with newspaper clippings that referenced her career and Nike-inspired details. Her walk-on wardrobe continued throughout the tournament with designs from Thom Browne, Monse and KidSuper. Roach, known for his work with Zendaya, helped develop the looks as Osaka brought elements of basketball, New York and her own career into the visual story. Her Thom Browne ensemble featured tennis-racquet embroidery, while her final appearance came with a colorful, fur-trimmed KidSuper cloak and a headband inspired by the NBA logo.
“I felt really swaggy when I put it on,” Osaka said of the final outfit. “I feel like it embodied New York a lot.”
The fashion attention arrived alongside a difficult physical challenge. Osaka had been dealing with leg pain throughout the tournament, although she advanced through Elise Mertens 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in the third round after overcoming a lingering Achilles issue. Her fourth-round meeting with Rybakina proved more difficult. Rybakina controlled the match and ended Osaka’s campaign in straight sets.
Osaka’s recent results still point to a player capable of producing deep runs at major tournaments. She reached the U.S. Open semifinals in 2025 and entered this year’s event as the No. 13 seed. Her 2026 season has also included wins at the Australian Open and Indian Wells before the U.S. Open became her latest stage for a return to the spotlight.
