Wonho, the lead singer of MONSTA X, left the group on 31 October 2019 (Thursday) leaving fans in a complete shock. The singer cited personal issues as the main reason of his departure from the band.

“First, I would like to apologize for not being able to keep the promise that I would only provide good memories to our fans and for causing them pain. Furthermore, I apologize for causing concern to many people due to my personal issues. I am apologetic for causing harm to the members due to the unfortunate issues related to me. More than anything, I am sorry for disappointing my fans who believed in me. I have reached this decision after seeing many people having a hard time because of me,” admits Wonho in a heartfelt message to fans.

Wonho will not be attending any events with the group anymore. MONSTA X is officially a six-member group. The band is scheduled to attends the 2019 MAMA Awards on 4 December and  perform at Jingle Ball concerts in the United States in December.

MONSTA X released a third album “Take.2 We Are Here” on 18 February 2019, which turned out to be an enormous commercial success in South Korea, Japan and the United States.
