In a surprise announcement late this week, “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown revealed she has legally changed her name, officially adopting her husband Jake Bongiovi’s surname. The 21-year-old confirmed during a light-hearted quiz interview with “Stranger Things” co-star Noah Schnapp that she no longer goes by “Millie Bobby Brown,” but now uses “Millie Bonnie Bongiovi.”
“Drop the Bobby, drop the Brown,” she told Schnapp at one point, adding, “That’s it.”
Brown’s name change follows her 2024 marriage to Bongiovi, the son of rocker Jon Bon Jovi, and comes after the couple adopted a baby girl earlier this year — an addition that marked a major chapter in their lives.
Notably, the “Bobby Brown” middle name was itself a stage-name choice. In a 2025 interview, Brown revealed her actual middle name is “Bonnie,” and that she originally used “Bobby” “for s—s and giggles.”
Despite the legal change, Brown is expected to continue using her stage name professionally — a common strategy for actors who marry but wish to maintain continuity in their credits.
Even amid personal milestones, Brown’s career remains in full swing. She is currently headlining the final season of Stranger Things, which began streaming November 26, 2025. Beyond that, she’s set to return as the titular lead in the third installment of the Enola Holmes film franchise, and is attached to Just Picture It, a romantic comedy co-starring “The Fabelmans” breakout Gabriel LaBelle, also slated for release in the near future.
