Miley Cyrus has come out to address the rift rumor plaguing her family. Days after it came to light that her mom, Tish Cyrus, had unfollowed her on Instagram, the “Flower” singer took to the platform to quell the rampant speculations.
“I rarely comment on rumors but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” Miley wrote on Instagram Story. “She’s my best friend.”
The former Disney Channel star then explained away Tish unfollowing her early that week, calling it “coincidental.”
“Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental and uninteresting,” she wrote.
Of course, the timing of the whole thing was suspicious enough. Last week, Miley reunited with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, to celebrate the 31st birthday of her younger brother, Braison. The moment was captured in a selfie that the country singer posted to Instagram. Previously, Miley and her father were known to have had a fallout after her parents’ 2022 divorce, with Miley seemingly taking her mother’s side. The “Wrecking Ball” singer acknowledged this in her lengthy post as well.
“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,” she wrote. “I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Later, Tish seemed to echo Miley’s explanation, clarifying on X: “I would never unfollow Miley, her and I are as close as we’ve always been. Period. Love you Little @mileycyrus.”
Meanwhile, Miley recently released her latest single, an emotional ballad titled “More to Lose.”
