Lisa to Star in Notting Hill-Inspired Romcom for Netflix

188views

BLACKPINK’s Lisa is set to take a leading turn in a Netflix romantic comedy inspired by the classic 1999 film Notting Hill, the streaming giant announced this week. The Thai rapper, singer, dancer and actor will headline what is expected to be her first major rom-com feature role, written by Katie Silberman, whose credits include Set It Up and Booksmart, and produced with David Bernad, executive producer of The White Lotus

Netflix shared on its official channels that “LALISA rom-com era!” is officially underway, announcing that Lisa’s film will be developed in collaboration with Silberman and Bernad’s Middle Child Productions. Lisa will also serve as an executive producer, alongside Alice Kang, further expanding her creative role beyond acting. While plot details remain under wraps, the project’s development reportedly began on the set of The White Lotus Season 3, where Lisa bonded with Bernad over a shared appreciation for Notting Hill’s blend of romantic charm and relatable comedy.

The Netflix project marks Lisa’s first leading role since branching out into acting. She made her acting debut in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3, credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal, in a supporting role that earned positive attention from critics and audiences alike. That experience led to her continued work with Bernad and into film projects including the rom-com and the upcoming Netflix action movie Tygo, a spin-off of the Extraction franchise.

Lisa’s music career remains active alongside her acting pursuits. As a member of BLACKPINK, she’s part of one of the world’s biggest pop acts, and her solo work — including hits like “Born Again” with Doja Cat and Raye — has earned international acclaim and MTV VMA awards. The rom-com project adds to a growing slate that spans music, television and film, illustrating the breadth of her crossover appeal.

Netflix has not yet announced a title or release date for the rom-com, but production plans are underway as fans anticipate what could be one of the streamer’s most high-profile romantic comedies in 2027.
