Lily Collins to Play Audrey Hepburn in Movie About The Making of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”

Lily Collins, best known for playing the titular role in the hit series Emily in Paris, has been cast to portray Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn in a forthcoming feature exploring the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Collins confirmed the project in an Instagram post announcing the role, describing her nearly decade-long admiration for Hepburn and the film that helped define her legacy.

The upcoming movie, based on Sam Wasson’s nonfiction book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman, will delve into behind-the-scenes drama from the romantic comedy’s production — from casting controversies to on-set stories that shaped cinema history. The script is being written by Alena Smith, creator of Apple TV+’s Dickinson, with Collins set to serve as a producer through her company Case Study Films alongside Imagine Entertainment.

Collins, 36, brings a varied résumé to the role: beyond Emily in Paris, she has appeared in The Blind Side, Love, Rosie, The Mortal Instruments, and To the Bone, and is signed on for additional projects including the Amazon MGM adaptation of Polly Pocket. Her casting has been described as a dream come true by many given the longstanding talk about Collins’ resemblance to the late icon. Emily in Paris even drew this comparison by having Collins’ character Emily don Hepburn’s iconic looks from Funny Face, Roman Holiday, and yes, Breakfast at Tiffany’s in some of its episodes.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s — the original, starring Hepburn as Holly Golightly opposite George Peppard — earned multiple Academy Award nominations and became a cultural touchstone for its style, music and character portrayal. This new film aims to capture not just the glamour but the tumult and creativity of its creation, spotlighting figures such as author Truman Capote, director Blake Edwards and costume designer Edith Head.

While no official release date has been announced and a director has yet to be attached, the project’s development has been in progress for nearly ten years, making Collins’s headline role one of the most anticipated casting news items of early 2026.
