Lil Nas X Pleads Not Guilty Amid Four Felony Charges Following Bizarre Arrest

377views

Lil Nas X, the genre-defying artist behind “Old Town Road,” finds himself at a sobering crossroads: on August 21, he was arrested in Los Angeles following an alarming public episode, and as of August 25, the 26-year-old rapper has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges.

According to official reports, law enforcement encountered Lil Nas X—legally Montero Lamar Hill—walking nearly naked (wearing only underwear and cowboy boots) along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, just before 6 a.m. when confronted. He allegedly charged at officers, resulting in a struggle that prompted his arrest.

Initially booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, charges were swiftly elevated: he now faces three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer—felony offenses that collectively could carry more than a decade behind bars.

Following his arraignment on August 25, Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty and was released after posting $75,000 bail. The court mandated his participation in an outpatient drug treatment program and banned him from using or possessing illegal drugs.

Outside the courtroom, his legal team characterized the incident as a shocking anomaly in an otherwise virtuous life, pointing to his two Grammy wins and ongoing cultural influence. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15. The coming weeks will determine whether this notorious incident remains a momentary lapse or the beginning of a new chapter in his controversial, storied career.
