Leighton Meester Joins Season 2 of Husband Adam Brody’s Show “Nobody Wants This”

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is joining the cast of husband Adam Brody’s hit Netflix comedy, Nobody Wants This. In its sophomore season, the actress will play Abby, Joanne (Kristen Bell)’s high school nemesis turned mommy influencer. Her appearance will also mark a reunion with Bell, who voiced Gossip Girl throughout its 6 seasons run (plus the two-season reboot). 

The first season of Nobody Wants This was an unexpected hit. The series follows the romance between Joanne, a free spirited podcaster, and Noah (Brody), a young rabbi. Along the way, the pair must navigate the challenges that come with their starkly different beliefs. Its fresh humor and painfully relatable storylines struck a nerve with viewers and critics alike. So, it came as no surprise when Netflix quickly renewed the series for another season. 

Last month, Brody won the Critics Choice Awards for his portrayal of Noah. Taking the stage to accept the award, he lavished praises on Meester in a moment that went viral.

“My darling, darling, darling wife. Thank you for sharing this life with me and this journey with me,” he told his wife as tears swarmed her eyes. “Thank you for our family. Love you with all my heart. Thank you so much.”

When he returned to his seat, the two shared a deep kiss with everyone watching, adding a cinematic romanticism to the entire moment. 

Brody and Meester met on the set of The Oranges in 2010. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and are now parents to two children.
