“KPop Demon Hunters” Continues Dominance, Close to Becoming Netflix’s Most Watched Movie of All Time

Netflix-Sony Animation’s animated sensation “KPop Demon Hunters” continues its golden run on the streamer. Not only are the soundtracks currently ruling the charts, the movie keeps growing its audiences, nine weeks after its release – an unprecedented pattern for Netflix original movies.
“KPop Demon Hunters” has just passed 210.5 million views, with 454.2 hours viewed. It is only the second Netflix movie to ever cross that milestone after “Red Notice” starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. And with its current trajectory, the Maggie Kang-directed film is poised to surpass the action comedy’s number very soon.
With glowing critical receptions (97% on Rotten Tomatoes) and overwhelmingly positive fan reactions worldwide, the animated movie went from a little-known movie about the world K-Pop to a cultural behemoth. In its ninth week, the film is back at the top of Netflix’s most watched movies list with 26 million views. A few weeks ago, the film had already broken the record as the streamer’s most watched animated film. With its steady performance, it is now poised to overtake the star-studded “Red Notice” (230 million views) as Netflix’s most watched film ever.
The “KPop Demon Hunters” hype isn’t receding anytime soon. In an unusual move, Netflix is taking the film to the big screens for a limited run. The streamer is setting up screenings across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK on August 23 and 24 for a singalong version of the movie, which quickly sold out. No doubt, it’s all thanks to the OST’s popularity, with “Golden”, “Soda Pop”, and “Your Idol” currently charting in the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100.
Delivering a fresh original idea, trendy K-Pop-influenced premise, and addictive soundtrack, “KPop Demon Hunters” has truly shown the world how it’s done!
