Singer Khalid has released his much anticipated third album, “Sincere”. The indie pop-flavored track “Heatstroke” is the first single out of the album, marking his first release since “Scenic Drive” EP back in 2021.

“Heatstroke,” to me, is a risk for me to take,” the 26-year-old singer explained. “I love genre bending. I love music. I’m a music listener. I’m a student, and that was a genre that I hadn’t dipped my toes in. And I wanted to make sure that when I was writing this song that it felt real and it felt down to earth.”

Authenticity is indeed something that weighs a lot in the “lovely” singer’s mind.

“When I was writing “Heatstroke,” I wanted to make sure that it felt authentic,” he said. “even before I knew that the name of the album was going to be called ‘Sincere’. Something about that moment freestyling a song. It’s like I couldn’t stop myself from saying, ‘What if I told you?’”

Khalid first rose to fame as a teen barely out of high school with 2017’s “American Teen” album.   “Sincere” marks the singer’s continued maturation as a person and musician. He said that the 16 tracks in the album are “inspired by real life experiences and dealing with the obstacles that come with growth and adulthood.”

“‘Sincere’ is me at 26, and I believe it truly solidifies myself as an artist and is me at my best,“ he gushed.

The velvety voiced R&B singer-songwriter garnered worldwide attention through hits like “Silence”, “Young, Dumb, & Broke”, and “Better”. He further cemented his impact with splashy collaborations like “lovely” with Billie Eilish and “Eastside” with Benny Blanco and Halsey.
