On the Fourth of July weekend, the dinos reigned supreme atop the global box office. Jurassic World Rebirth grossed a staggering $318 million worldwide, with $147.3 million coming from North America across the 5-day long weekend. That gives the Scarlett Johansson-starrer the biggest opening weekend number of 2025 to date.

Elsewhere in the world, the film also ruled at the box office. it went no. 1 in the biggest markets in the world: China, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Spain, France and many more. The result has no doubt been dubbed “tremendous”, per Universal studio executive Jim Orr

Jurassic World Rebirth is exactly what audiences crave during the summer: a very big, fun, extraordinarily well-done adventure,” remarked Orr, who handles domestic distribution for Universal.

The film, directed by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Gareth Edwards, is a sort of soft reboot of the Jurassic World trilogy featuring a whole new cast. The story follows the hunt for a dinosaur’s DNA led by Johansson’s mercenary character. Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali also co-star.

Critical reception for the film has been mixed thus far. Its Rotten Tomatoes currently stands at 51%, but that clearly didn’t deter moviegoers from enjoying two hours of dino-fest to beat the summer heat.
