Jessica Pegula Defeats Sofia Kenin to Advance to Round 3 of US Open 2024

Jessica Pegula defeated Sofia Kenin 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the second round of the US Open and advanced to the third round. Pegula took almost one hour and a half to hold off Kenin in a thrilling and emotional match between the two.

“I think I started serving a little bit better. I thought I served pretty well in the moments that I had to. I knew I was right there and had chances to break. She’s really tough. She’s a good returner. When she’s hitting her shots and getting really good depth, it makes it really hard,” said Jessica Pegula in a post-match interview.

Jessica Pegula will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Saturday for a place in the fourth round.
