Amid busy press for her upcoming movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, Jenna Ortega took time to share some updates about her other highly anticipated project, the second season of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday”.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the starlet got candid about the pressure to follow up on the show’s massively popular debut.
“I was a little terrified just because it had been years since Wednesday, since we shot the first one,” she told Fallon. “We did that like two or three years ago in Romania.”
She is, however, quite ecstatic about her new role as a producer on the sophomore season.
“I get to decide, like, how blue somebody’s gonna be, or where the brains go on the floor, what the prosthetics look like,” she said. “It’s so exciting. It’s so much fun, actually.”
Wednesday follows the misadventures of Wednesday Addams, played by Ortega, as she attends Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for supernaturally gifted students. Co-directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, it is based on the beloved horror comedy “The Addams Family”.
Season 2 began filming in May. Ortega will reprise her role alongside returning cast members Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Luis Guzmán. A slew of newcomers will also arrive at Nevermore. Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor have joined the cast as series regulars in Season 2. Meanwhile, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamowill are set to appear as guest stars.
No dates are set for season 2 just yet, though it is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
