Wuthering Heights star Jacob Elordi is stepping in as the face of Bleu de Chanel, succeeding Timothée Chalamet. The high-profile switch comes on the heels of a triumphant year that includes box office success and first-ever Oscar nomination for the former teen heartthrob.
Per reports, Elordi takes over ambassador duties for the fragrance, which he will front in a new campaign film directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The appointment places Elordi in a lineage that includes late French actor Gaspard Ulliel, who served as the face of Bleu de Chanel for over a decade, followed by Chalamet from 2023 through 2026.
Via a statement, the Paris-based luxury house frames the casting as a continuation of the brand’s cinematic identity, with Elordi — known for projects like Euphoria, Frankenstein, and Saltburn — positioned as embodying the fragrance’s mix of mystery and modern masculinity. His relationship with the house also predates the campaign: Elordi previously worked with Chanel’s creative director Matthieu Blazy during the latter’s tenure at Bottega Veneta.
Still, the transition has sparked speculation. Online discourse has pointed to Chalamet’s recent comments about ballet — a remark some fans interpreted as dismissive — as a possible factor, particularly given Chanel’s long-standing patronage of the Paris Opera Ballet. No official link between the comment and the brand’s decision has been confirmed.
The reshuffle has also drawn attention for an offbeat coincidence: both actors are romantically linked to members of the Jenner family. Chalamet has been in a relationship with Kylie Jenner for a few years, while Elordi has recently been linked to the makeup mogul’s older sister, supermodel Kendall Jenner.
Since its launch in 2010, Bleu de Chanel remains one of the brand’s most commercially successful fragrances – with Ulliel serving as its longtime ambassador from 2010 all the way to his untimely death in 2022. Since then, Chanel appears to have switched its strategy to utilize a rotation of high profile actors to represent the iconic perfume.
