Once a formidable ally, Elon Musk has turned against President Donald Trump in a shocking fashion.
The Tesla tycoon has accused Trump of being in the (Jeffrey) Epstein files. Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019, was a disgraced financier and convicted pedophile with alleged ties to world leaders and A-list celebrities.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk wrote on X. “Have a nice day, DJT!”
“Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,” he later added. It was unclear how and if Musk had his hand on the classified files. His statement also never made a direct indictment of wrongdoings by simply being mentioned in the files.
In response to the allegation, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has issued a statement.
“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted,” she said in a statement to CNN. “The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again.”
Rift between the once tight-knit allies began with Musk’s unhappiness over Trump’s massive tax and domestic policy bill. Clearly, the policy is affecting the billionaire’s businesses, souring their relationship. In retaliation to Musk’s recent criticism of him, the mercurial President is considering cutting government contracts with Tesla – to which Musk responded: “Go ahead, make my day.”
