Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” Becomes The Longest Running No.1 Song on Billboard Hot 100

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has made Billboard history again. The country hit has now spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending its record as the longest-running chart-topper in the 68-year history of the all-genre chart. The milestone comes just days after the song passed Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which previously held the record with 22 weeks at No. 1.

The road to the record began in October 2025, when Langley released “Choosin’ Texas” as the lead single from her third studio album, “Dandelion.” The song first entered the Hot 100 in November before reaching No. 1 in February 2026. Its climb also came with several interruptions. The song eventually returned to the summit and held the position long enough to tie Carey’s record at 22 weeks before claiming the record outright with its 23rd week. It has since added another week at No. 1.

Langley co-wrote the track with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. The song tells the story of a Tennessee woman whose partner leaves her for another woman in Texas. Its midtempo country sound helped the track cross beyond the country audience. By mid-August, “Choosin’ Texas” had accumulated 911 million U.S. on-demand streams and 1.26 billion worldwide, according to Luminate data cited by the Associated Press.

For Langley, 27, the record caps a rapid rise in country music. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut around 2023 and released her debut album, “Hungover,” that same year. Her 2024 duet with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me,” became another major breakthrough and earned multiple country-music honors. “Choosin’ Texas” has since taken her career to a much larger audience, with Langley headlining her Dandelion Tour this year.
